Regular Meeting

 The meeting began at 1830 hours local time, President Mike Carey presiding.  Twenty attendees signed in.  At least six additional members/guests attended but did not sign the attendance roster.

 

Introductions followed.  50/50 drawing tickets were offered for sale immediately following introductions.

 

Announcements:

 

Ø     President Mike asked for three members to volunteers to man the nominating committee in accordance with the club by-laws.  KE7RAP-Bob, AD7QJ-Harold, and KF7BSM-Tony agreed to be on the nominating committee.  Mike encouraged all members to run for any office.   Mike noted that one directorship position is due to expire in May, and is open for nominations, as are all officer positions regardless of whether those presently filling those positions intend to run again in this election.

 

Ø     The March meeting presentation: Rob Fisher, the new District Emergency Coordinator for District 9 will present a program on packet radio systems.  Rob is highly regarded as an expert with packet radio systems.

 

Ø     Field Day will be held as usual on the last weekend in June.  All area clubs are invited to attend this special annual event, to be held again at Valleyford County Park.

 

Ø     Business cards displaying the club’s logo were shown by Mike.  These cards may be personalized per the member’s wishes.  Contact Mike at kd7ghz@arrl.net to order your cards.  Mike will need your name, call sign and email address when you place your order.

 

Ø     Break out of the Winter Blues:  Mike announced that on February 20 at the Old Country Buffet on north Division, ARES is holding a social event.  All radio amateurs and their families are welcome.  The event begins at 3:30.  Check with Mike kd7ghz@arrl.net for additional details.

 

Ø     Presentation:  Tonight’s presentation was given by AD7FO-Jack and AA7LG-Bob.  Topic:  PSK-31 Digital Mode of communications.  Jack and Bob’s presentation described the unique characteristics of this mode, the advantages, equipment needed, and transmitter power output limitations.  Jack and Bob demonstrated the system with a complete set-up, and displayed the video image of the PSK-31 signal as it was tuned on a PC.  The audio of the PSK-31 signal was demonstrated also. 

 

Ø     50/50 ticket drawing jackpot ($8.00) was won by AA7LG-Bob
