INLAND EMPIRE VHF CLUB MEETING

September 10, 2009

The meeting began at 1630 hours at SCC, President Mike Carey-KD7GHZ, presiding.

Member introductions followed. Twenty persons signed the attendance sheet.

The first item on the agenda was a presentation by Mike-KD7GZ-regarding ham radio etiquette. Membership discussion followed with several members offering their points of view on what they considered to be proper or improper ways to use various repeaters and high frequency bands. The general consensus reached among the members was that using common courtesy while on the air contributes greatly to effective amateur radio communications.

The next order of business was to determine what the membership would like to see the club accomplish during the following year. Members offered ten topics for club projects:

  1. HF ladder line-all aspects of this method of feeding antennas.
  2. Basic radio training.
  3. Programming your radio.
  4. Airmail overview. (Airmail is a digital form of radio communications).
  5. Digital modes (RTTY, PSK-31, etc.)
  6. HF propagation.
  7. CW (Morse Code) Why and How?
  8. RDF (radio direction finding)
  9. Home Brewing (focus on correct soldering techniques).
  10. Stealth Antennas.
