Inland Empire VHF Radio Amateurs

General Meeting

October 8, 2009

The meeting was brought to order at 1830 hours local time at Spokane Community College, Old Main Building, room 252, vice president K7JJP- Jim Pernsteiner, presiding. Jim, who is also the club’s net manager, invited everyone to check into the Wednesday night nets at 1930 hour on 146.880 mHz. Jim noted that on the club’s Wednesday evening net, you can list equipment for sale or equipment wanted, keep updated on upcoming events, volunteer to be a net control station, thus increasing your communications skills, and, if you have questions of a technical nature, you may list those questions in the question and answer session on the net. Jim noted the club’s web address (www.vhfclub.org) as a valuable resource for club updates with links to additional amateur radio information resources.

Sixteen attendees signed the attendance sheet. Each person introduced himself; each briefly described his experience at the Spokane Ham Fest on September 26, 2009.

A presentation was given by WA7BAA-Don covering the topic of low power (QRP) operation. Questions and discussion regarding this topic followed.

Mary, AA7RT, reported all four VE exam candidates successfully passed their amateur radio exams. Of those four, one achieved technician class, and three were successful in achieving the general class license.

K7DWB-Dave, club treasurer, produced a Spokane Ham Fest financial report, and announced that the ham fest was a recording-breaking success in attendance, number of commercial tables rented and number of private tables rented. Details will be available in the monthly financial report compiled by Dave.

50/50 raffle tickets were offered for sale. The drawing was conducted by AD7QJ-Harold, director. The jackpot was won by KF7BSM-Tony.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 2000 hours.
