Inland Empire VHF Radio Amateurs Club Regular Meeting

April 9, 2008

 

Introductions were made. Coffee and cookies were made available to all.

VE exam report: 5 technicians and 1 general successfully passed their exams.

Nominations for the upcoming annual election on May 14, 2009 were the first order of business. VP John-W7JRB named the current officers:

President: Mike Grounds-KE7PG

Vice President: John Barnett-W7JRB

Secretary: Don Vogel-WA7BAA

Treasurer: Dave Baird-K7DWB

Director: Mike Carey-KD7GHZ Term expires in 2009.

Director: Karl Shoemaker-AK2O Term expires in 2010.

Director: Harold Hepner-AD7QJ Term expires in 2011.

 

New nominees were listed for the following positions which are up for election:

President: Mike Carey-KD7GHZ

Vice President: Jim Pernsteiner-K7JJP

Secretary: Don Vogel-WA7BAA

Treasurer: Dave Baird-K7DWB

Director: Mike Grounds-KE7PG, Jim Prociw-WB7BMA, Bob Peterson-KE7RAP, Jack Tiley-AD7FO.

No members attending tonight’s meeting offered additional nominees. Jack-K7AZN moved that nominations be closed.

Motion was seconded by Clint-N7RWN.

A unanimous vote by the attending membership officially closed the nominating process for the aforementioned election.

The treasurer’s report by treasurer Dave Baird-K7DWB:

According to club by laws, at the April meeting, a panel of three members is to conduct a financial review of the club’s annual financial records. Jack-K7AZN, Damian-WA7DGI, and Gary-KE7IAT volunteered to be financial review panel members. The financial review committee stated that they were satisfied with the records. Jack-AD7FO made a motion to accept the financial review committee’s report. Motion was seconded.

Secretary Don-WA7BAA offered hamfest raffle tickets for sale.

50/50 tickets were offered, sold, and the drawing commenced. Lucky 50/50 winner was Jim-K7JJP, club net manager. Jackpot totaled $7.50.

 

Announcements:

 

Jim-K7JJP is always looking for volunteers to be net control operators for the club net, which meets on Wednesday nights at 1930 hours, local time. Contact Jim via the website .

The Yakima ham fest is on April 11.

The Idaho State Convention is April 24 in Boise.

 

Presentation:

The scheduled program (a presentation on logging) could not be presented because the gentleman who could deliver this program could not be/was not contacted.

John-W7JRB presented an impromptu program describing methods of measuring various means of modulation (AM & FM) using an oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, and a network analyzer. Waveforms were displayed on an excellent color television monitor.

Field Day:

Mike-KD7GHZ reported that Field Day 2009 will again be held at Valleyford County Park on June 27-28. Maps and signs will be made available to assist in finding that park. Spokane Lilac City Amateur Radio Club is the Field Day Sponsoring club. Inland Empire VHF Club will assist in providing barbeque materials.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 2000 hours local time and was attended by approximately 20 persons.
